Conversations with the Makapansgat Pebble
The Makapansgat pebble is the earliest example of a manuport, an object moved from its point of origin by human agency. Whilst not a manufactured object, the jasperite cobble from 3,000,000bp has chippings which represent a crude face. It was found in a South African cave along with the bones of a pre-human. Collected and kept in perhaps the earliest example of symbolic thinking. The animation was made using software which approximates the original into a series of scenarios which represent a set of anxieties about relationships with objects now, dreamed by software and never really touched.

They think we think they don't know what they think..
describes eating language like spaghetti and allowing the stomach to interpret, it sinks to the bottom of the sea, the meat cooked to perfection so the bone slides out. The rhythm is not news, the news is rhythm, the bones used to percuss. The diagnosis is jerky kneed. But good in a sandwich with jam.

Hallucinating British Sculpture Croissants
A fat version of Henry Moore's 'Three points' (1949).
Born out of a dream, the film, part slideshow, part dreamscape, is an exploration into how information exists, is disseminated between people and then altered through forces such as dreams, misunderstandings, miscommunications or even hallucinations. Taking Henry Moore’s ‘Three Points’ and pollinating it with a croissant, the resulting footage takes on the feel of a seminar slideshow which has failed to communicate and been reduced to scribbled diagrams, a constant attempt to project ideas onto an object and a speaker who can only talk in sound effects and music. There is a desperation to communicate something in line with a historical grand narrative but the croissants and the cheesy wotsits have taken over the flow diagrams.
